“This is my forth year choreographing.”

“When I choreographed in the past, my pieces always had a strong concept behind the movement. However, this year I decided to create a movement for movement’s sake inspired piece, although the tone of the music drives accents in the movement.”
How does your concept for your piece relate to the concept “true you”?
“My piece relates to the theme the “true you” because it challenges the past me and choreography I have created. This piece shows a different side of my creativity which connects to finding my true self. ”

How does your concept for your piece relate to the concept “true you”?
“My piece relates to “true you” because everyone has something they consider “home” whether it happens to be a person, place, or thing.”

January 6th, 2018: Choreographer Spotlight!
Choreographer: Marykate Frassinelli

How many years have you been in the Company?
” I have been in the company for 6 years.”
How many years have you been choreographing?
“This is my second year choreographing.”
What inspired you this year in your creative process?
“The movement in my piece is based on a story line I’ve experienced where you’re in a close relationship with someone, and all of the sudden, someone new comes into the picture. This new person gets in the way of your relationship and you can slowly see the person you love choosing them over you.”
How does your concept for your piece relate to the concept “true you”?
“My piece relates to the “true you” because at some point in everyone’s life, they realize who’s really there for them and who’s just temporary. As much as this can hurt, we all eventually get over it and realize we’re better off without them. “
