How many years have you been in the company?

I have been in the company for eight years.

How many years have you been choreographing?

I have been choreographing for 6 years.

What inspired you this year in your creative process?

This year I focused on working in collaboration with my dancers to create this piece. I wanted to include choreography that my dancers enjoyed doing so that they could connect emotionally and physically to the dance. This process helped me to become a better choreographer by listening to my cast as well as it helped me to become a better dancer.

How does your piece relate to the concert “Moving Forward”?

This piece relates to “Moving Forward” because by working together to create this piece we were able to reach the goal of making something beautiful. Sometimes you can not move forward on your own so you need people to help and assist you and this piece is an example of that!

What inspired you this year in your creative process?

This year, I was inspired by my experience living in this world thus far. I have experienced amazing things filled with happiness in love. However, I have also seen the terrible sadness and violence people have had to experience. I wanted my piece to show that we are all human on the same earth, and we can change this world for the better if we come together and spread happiness and love.

How does your piece relate to the concert “Moving Forward”?

My piece relates to the theme “moving forward” because in this day and age, we can learn from the generations before us. We have all seen the sadness and violence but now, we can be the generation that changes the world for the better. We can create a safer and happier earth for the generations to follow.

How many years have you been in the Company?
I’ve been in the company for 4 years.
How many years have you been choreographing?
This is my first year choreographing.
What inspired you this year in your creative process?

This year my concept is about your friends and family and how they show love to you and you use it in your everyday life. Also I am very inspired by the composer Rachel Platten because I went to her concert and I used her song “Fight Song” for my audition into figments. Rachel went to Trinity college, and we rehearse at Trinity College, so I really wanted to choreograph to a song that was by her.

How does your concept for your piece relate to the concept “moving forward”?
My piece connects to the idea of “Moving Forward” because you move forward when you know you have people behind you to support you. In my piece I use movement to support my concept and the idea of moving forward with the people that have your back.
